Activity 3.1
According to the U.S. Census
Bureau. (2018) Belize’s birth rate is approximately 20 births per every 1,000
people, while their death rate sits at approximately 5 per every 1,000 people. The
population growth rate is 0.1%. The life expectancy for men is 72 years old and
for women it is 78 years old. The average number of children per
childbearing-aged females in 2020 was approximately 2.2. The gross national
income is 5,880 per capita.
Northern America’s birth rate is
approximately 11 births per every 1,000 people and their death rate is
approximately 10 per every 1,000 people. The population growth rate is 1.5%. The
life expectancy for men is 75 years old and for women it is 81 years old. The
average number of children per childbearing-aged females in 2020 was approximately
1.6. The gross national income is 64,417 per capita.
Looking at these numbers we can see
that Belize’s birth rate is higher by 9 every 1,000 people. The population
growth rate for Belize is larger also by 1.4%. The life expectancy for men is
lower for Belize than the North America by 3 years and for women 3 years as
well. The average number of children per childbearing-aged females in 2020 was 0.6.
so less than a 1 child difference. The difference in gross national income was
by 58,537 per capita.
Comparing to world date Belize has 2
more births per every 1,000 people and North America falling below the average
by 7. The death rate for Belize is 3 less than the average per every 1,000
people and North America is more by 2 per every 1,000 people. The life expectancy
for males in Belize is one year longer than in the world and 4 years longer for
males in North America. For women in Belize, it is also longer by 3 years and
for North America 6 years longer. The average children per childbearing-aged
females is approximately less than the average by .1 for Belize and 0.7 for
North America. The average gross national income for Belize was less than
11,655 per capita and North America had more by 46,882 per capita than the
average.
Looking at the information provided
we can see that Belize and North America are not far off from the world’s
averages in all areas except for the gross national income where Belize is
trailing behind considerably and North America is leading the way. So essentially,
Belize residents make drastically less than the average citizen and even less so than North America. This could be a good determining factor for things such as poverty.
